Five Wellness Tips
In between your visits to our office, there are lots of things you can do to keep your body - especially your back -
healthy. - Think Tall.
Develop the habit of good posture. It
makes a world of difference in the way your back feels. While you are sitting, or standing, try to touch the ceiling with
the top of your head, this will help alleviate tension in your back as well as contribute to proper posture.
- Colorful Meals.
A good diet is important to your overall health. Proper nutrition
will help your body repair itself, and help maintain a weight that is right for you. Try to make sure that there are three
different colors on your plate for every meal.
- Stay Active.
Add exercise to your regular routine, and if you have to sit for long periods, stretch regularly. Exercising 3 times a week,
for at least 20 minutes, can help decrease your risk for many health problems, and give you more energy. If finding the time
is difficult, then pick a parking spot away from your destination’s door and enjoy a short walk.
- Lift Smart.
Don't lift things that are too heavy for you. If you have to
lift a heavy object, don’t bend at your waist – keep your back straight, bend your legs and exhale while you lift
the object. Don't carry around a backpack stuffed full of books (especially not on one shoulder) or a heavy bag
or purse if you can avoid it.
- Sleep Tight.
Sleep is
essential for your well-being. Sleeping on your stomach can strain the muscles in your neck and back, so try to sleep on your
side or back. Also, don’t let cold air blow directly on you while you sleep, cover up with at least a sheet.
